A vehicle leaves the road and knocks down a lamppost in Arrecife

Emergency services had to remove the fallen lamppost, make safe electrical cables, and clean up vehicle remains and an oil stain on the roadway

A vehicle went off the road and ended up hitting a lamppost on Tenderete street, in Arrecife, which caused damage to various urban furniture and forced emergency services to intervene to restore safety in the area.

According to information provided by the Security and Emergencies Consortium, the alert was received through the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (Cecoes), which alerted the personnel to act upon the presence of several obstacles on the roadway.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the interveners confirmed that a lamppost had been knocked down and was obstructing traffic after a car left the road. As a consequence of the impact, damages were also recorded in various elements of the urban furniture.

The officers proceeded to remove the fallen lamppost and to clean up the electrical cables affected to avoid risks. Subsequently, they neutralized an oil slick present on the roadway and carried out road cleaning tasks, also removing the remains of the vehicle involved.

At the scene there was also a unit of the Local Police, which collaborated in the operation. Once the cleaning and securing tasks of the area were finished, the personnel informed Cecoes and returned to their base.
