The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. this Sunday on the Puerto del Carmen ring road near the back of the Puerto del Carmen Institute.
The two vehicles involved collided head-on for reasons that are still unknown. Five people were traveling in the cars, two women dying at the scene and the other three are:
- Male, 47 years old, with trauma to the lower limb of a less serious nature, transferred in a basic life support ambulance to the José Milona Orosa Hospital
- Female, 30 years old, with chest trauma of a less serious nature, transferred in a basic life support ambulance to Molina Orosa
- Male, 38 years old, with back trauma of a less serious nature, transferred in a basic life support ambulance to Molina Orosa
Personnel from the Civil Guard, Tías Local Police, four SUC ambulances, medicalized and advanced, the Red Cross and a fire truck went to the scene. The Fire Department was required to remove two people who were trapped from the vehicles. The Tías Local Police had to close the ring road to traffic for more than an hour while the tasks of attending to and transferring the injured were carried out. Arrecife Civil Protection collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources.
