Two people who were knocked into the sea by a wave and were "in distress" were rescued this Sunday in the Pechiguera lighthouse area of Playa Blanca, near Las Maretas, according to the Security and Emergency Consortium. It was a man who was at the scene who managed to get them out of the water by throwing them the lifebuoy that is installed in the area.
After being alerted by the Cecoes at around 1 p.m. this Sunday, the Security and Emergency Consortium activated the jet ski and an all-terrain vehicle, in order to go by sea and land. When they arrived at the scene, the firefighters observed that with the help of a lifebuoy that the Consortium had installed, they were pulling two people out of the water.
The man who helped in the rescue reported that there were three people fishing and that a wave knocked them into the water. One of them managed to get out on his own, leaving the other two, to whom the man threw the lifebuoy, managing to get them out of the sea.
According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, they were all in good condition, so they did not need medical assistance, although they were provided with blankets. Once they recovered their body temperature, the firefighters ended the service.
