Two people arrested for robbery and drug dealing in Puerto del Carmen

Officers of the Local Police of Tías proceeded this Thursday to the arrest of D. Salim K., 42 years old and a native of Algeria. The events occurred when a patrol observed this person walking along the Avenida de las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, who, upon the police presence, began to get nervous, so the Agents, upon identifying him, found a large number of perfumes in the bags he was carrying, in addition to having one of the bags prepared with an anti-theft system. After carrying out the appropriate procedures, it was possible to find out that the articles had been stolen from a nearby perfumery.

In the early hours of Friday, the foreign national from Guinea Bissau, D. Julio César L.C., 39 years old, was also arrested. Police officers surprised this person selling narcotics in the nightlife area of Avenida de Las Playas. For this reason, he was arrested and charged with a Crime against Public Health.

On the other hand, last Friday there were two serious accidents in the municipal area. In the first of them, a motorcyclist was seriously injured. In the second of the accidents, up to five vehicles were involved, resulting in six people injured of various degrees. Given the spectacular nature of the incident, in addition to the officers of the Local Police of Tías who were in charge of the instruction of proceedings, agents of the Local Police of Yaiza, Civil Guard of Tías, Civil Protection of Tías as well as medicalized ambulances of the SUC and Red Cross attended. As a result of the accident, the road that runs from Pto. del Carmen to Pto. Calero had to remain closed for a period of one hour, when all the vehicles involved could be removed and the road cleaned.

During the past weekend, an extensive alcohol and documentation control device was carried out in different crossings throughout the municipality, obtaining the following results: 12 drivers reported for exceeding the maximum alcohol level, 4 drivers for lacking mandatory insurance, 1 driver for not having passed the vehicle's MOT in the established time, and 4 drivers for lacking a driving license or permit. It so happens that one of the drivers who tested positive in the alcohol test exceeded the maximum permitted rate by four times, in addition to lacking a driving license.
