Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium traveled to Avenida de Femes in Playa Blanca on the afternoon of this past Wednesday after being alerted to a traffic accident.
Following the alert from the Local Police of Yaiza, they proceeded to the location and confirmed a large oil slick on the road, which they then neutralized using sepiolite.
Once the situation was assessed, they verified that the occupants of the vehicles involved were in good health and without apparent injuries.
Once the roadway was secured and after verifying that it posed no risk to traffic, they collected the relevant incident data and informed the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) of the completion of their work at the scene. Local Police were also present in the area, assisting in managing the situation.
