The Civil Guard has identified three people with the initials A.Z, M.B.A and N.R.M., - one of Spanish nationality and the other two of foreign nationality - as alleged perpetrators of a continued crime of robbery with force in things on an agricultural estate in the municipality of Teguise, the third being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of receiving stolen goods.
The agents began the investigation as a result of the complaint from the owner of the affected farm, who told the Civil Guard that someone had accessed his property up to three different times in several days, climbing a two-meter-high fence. According to the complaint, they stole an estimated 2,600 kilograms of watermelons.
"The corresponding police investigations allowed the agents to gather sufficient police evidence to identify the alleged perpetrators, who were finally located and arrested between the 19th and 21st, after verifying that one of them had sold the stolen watermelons in various stores on the island," explains the Civil Guard.
The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the corresponding Court, on duty, in the town of Arrecife.
In addition, the Civil Guard continues with investigations to detect businesses, premises or individuals who are acquiring fruits of illicit origin, which it reminds that constitutes a crime of receiving stolen goods, in addition to promoting "the continuation of these robberies and a possible public health risk, as many of these fruits are treated with phytosanitary products and the sufficient prudent time is not respected for them to be released from them." For this reason, the Civil Guard emphasizes that it is not recommended to acquire "horticultural products that are sold on public roads by individuals at an abnormally low price and without labeling."
