Three habitual offenders arrested after stealing from inside two vehicles

Arrecife Local Police sanction 12 drivers in speed checks over the weekend

Arrecife Local Police officers have carried out various traffic and citizen security controls over the past weekend.

Regarding the former, a police note explains that in the early hours of last Saturday several speed controls took place at different points of the Rambla Medular, controlling a total of 428 vehicles.

The agents reported 12 drivers, 8 of them for exceeding the permitted speed and whose sanction is still pending communication.

In the preventive Citizen Security devices developed during the past 14 and 16 October, the Local Police of Arrecife seized narcotics on five occasions, for consumption or possession of these illegal substances in public places, also intervening two weapons or dangerous objects that were carried on public roads.

Thefts inside vehicle

On the other hand, in the same statement the Local Police of Arrecife reports the arrest and placing at the disposal of the court of three individuals accused of a crime of theft inside two vehicles.

One of these cars was parked in the Hipólito Frías street of the island's capital, where two of the detainees, both repeat offenders from Arrecife, were prowling and tried to hide from the police presence.

The agents inspected a Renault-5 vehicle that was in the area, verifying that the two detainees had forced the driver's door and had seized the vehicle's documentation. The two detainees were seized a screwdriver, the aforementioned documentation, a car jack.

Both were identified as Jonay P.R., a native of Arrecife, 19 years old, who had already been arrested on five previous occasions for various reasons, and David Antonio G.P., a native of Arrecife, 22 years old, who had two outstanding search and arrest warrants and three other records for crimes against property.

Finally, the agents have arrested Pedro Jesús H.M., a native of Arrecife, who was placed at the disposal of the National Police Corps (CNP) accused of another crime of theft inside a vehicle. The detainee was seized an ashtray, a battery, four CDs, a radio case with a front inside, a radio CD without a front, a plastic object holder, a machete-type knife of about 20 centimeters of blade and six pills.
