They rob the Deiland jewelry store and investigate if it is the same assailant from Playa Blanca

Robbery at the Deiland jewelry store and investigation into whether it is the same assailant from Playa Blanca

A new jewelry store on the island has suffered a robbery with the same 'modus operandi' used a week ago in Playa Blanca. This time, the robbery occurred this Monday at Padparadscha Joyería, located in the Deiland shopping center in Playa Honda, and the assailant also took a watch.

"It is from the Festina brand and the value is 300 euros. In my case it was much less than in the other store, but the same way", they explained to La Voz from the establishment. And it is that in the Playa Blanca robbery, the stolen watch had a price of 9,600 euros. However, what has been identical is the way of acting, so it is being investigated if it is the same person. "He asked for a watch and once he had it on, he ran out", they say from the jewelry store.

In both robberies, the premises had security cameras, so the images of the author have been handed over to the Civil Guard, who is in charge of the investigation and who is now trying to locate the author or authors of these robberies.

"A young boy with an Italian accent"

In the case of Playa Blanca, those responsible for the jewelry store pointed out to La Voz that the thief seemed to be from the island, "not a tourist". Regarding the robbery in Deiland, they describe "a young boy with an Italian accent", although they do not rule out that the accent could be feigned. "The boy was a bit strange", they specify.

In fact, since he entered the premises he aroused suspicion due to his attitude. "He asked for expensive watches" and when they told him they didn't have any, he asked to be shown "the most expensive" they had for sale. "It is the one that cost 300 euros and the one that he finally took", they explain. In addition, the person who was in the establishment ran after the assailant and chased him to the terrace, but finally decided to return because he had left the premises alone.

"He turned around and made several cuts of his sleeve laughing, so he is used to doing it", they point out, adding that when he entered the establishment "he was very calm". "He was not nervous nor was his pulse trembling. An amazing tranquility", they emphasize. According to them, it is the first time they have suffered a robbery like this and now they trust that the Civil Guard will find the person responsible, "especially so that this does not continue".
