Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife, while on patrol duty through the streets of the capital of Lanzarote, were alerted on the morning of this Tuesday, May 19, by the owners of a dwelling located on a street in the capital's center. The owners reported that "the doors of the property had been forced", in a dwelling without residents, "and that they did not know if squatters were inside".

The agents proceeded to the location and confirmed that the access door to the property had been forced, entered it, and verified that no people were inside.

The Local Police drew up proceedings and offered the property owner the option to take legal action, recommending that they adopt security measures for the accesses to the dwelling, as according to the police report, "all indications pointed to a possible attempt at property squatting".

The Local Police of Arrecife provides a pioneering service, operating 24 hours a day, to prevent property squatting. Citizens should call 682 27 14 66 to report any indication or suspicion of a property being squatted, allowing police agents to act immediately.
