The Local Police identify another graffiti artist, attributing to him about 100 "vandalistic" graffiti in Arrecife

Agents assigned to the Documentoscopy Unit (UDOC) of the Local Police of Arrecife have identified a graffiti artist to whom the authorship of about 100 vandal graffiti in the city is attributed, which adds to the fifteen that were already identified by the police force as authors of more than 300 vandal graffiti in the municipality.

According to police sources, the accused, A.D.M. of 20 years of age and native of Playa Honda, acted "with total contempt towards public and private properties, when realizing numerous graffiti with the tags Flexi and Flx in places like the Salinas de la Bufona, marquees, parks, traffic signs, facades of buildings etc.

After the investigation, complemented by graphic studies carried out by the UDOC, the City Council of Arrecife will open a sanctioning file against the person responsible for the aforementioned acts of vandalism, with fines that could reach 600 euros per graffiti, which would mean about 60,000 euros of sanction plus the cleaning costs that are generated.

The Councilor of the Local Police, David Duarte, has once again recognized the work of agents in the identification of these graffiti artists, "who do so much damage to the environment of our municipality." "Graffiti has a serious cumulative effect; its initial appearance in a location seems to attract more graffiti, with the consequent devaluation of the affected areas and the feeling of greater insecurity and degradation of the urban environment," he said.

For this reason, he has warned that the Local Police will continue to act "against all those who contravene municipal ordinances and damage the city's heritage" and has called for citizen collaboration "so that all those people who witness events such as those mentioned give notice to the police, in order to proceed with their identification and denunciation."
