British police have arrested a 62-year-old man in London on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a girl of just 3 years old in Costa Teguise. This is at least what British media such as [Sky News->http://news.sky.com/story/1076623/man-held-over-lanzarote-kidnap-claims] or [The Sun->http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4881117/Hunt-is-on-for-child-snatcher.html] are publishing. The arrest comes a year and four months after the girl's father managed to prevent this alleged kidnapping attempt in the tourist town, which occurred in January 2012.
The family was on vacation in Costa Teguise enjoying a few days of rest. At the time of the events, they were inside a store and the father noticed that the girl was missing. According to the British press, at that moment the father went outside the store and saw a man taking his daughter by the hand towards an alley, but he shouted at him and managed to make him let go of her hand and flee the place.
Shortly after, this family claims to have seen the same man on the beach in a suspicious attitude, according to these British media. It was then that the father decided to confront him and call the police.
However, when the Civil Guard arrived at the scene, there was no one on the beach, as confirmed to La Voz. In fact, there is not even a complaint about these events in Lanzarote, neither in the Civil Guard nor in the Courts. Apparently, according to sources from the Civil Guard, the events were reported directly in the country of origin of this family and the Benemérita has been learning about this case through the British media.
The identification of this man has been possible thanks to the fact that the girl's father photographed him on the beach and showed this image to the police in London. The agents, in turn, made the photograph public and thanks also to citizen collaboration, the now detained man could be located, who the media in this country point out is British.
