Last Friday, the Civil Guard searched the office of Romina's husband, who is in provisional detention as the alleged perpetrator of the young woman's death, and seized various computer materials, including computers, according to sources close to the investigation.
Now, the Civil Guard's work focuses on analyzing these devices in search of new clues to clarify the case, as well as everything found in the inspections that have already been carried out in the house where the couple resided in the El Palmeral de Costa Teguise urbanization and in the car that Raúl Díaz Cachon rented to supposedly dispose of the young woman's body.
Regarding the result of these inspections, no new information has been released at the moment, although, in the case of the marital home, as La Voz already reported, there were indications that Romina's husband may have tried to erase traces of what happened. According to sources close to the investigation, part of the house had been recently painted. In addition, the Civil Guard also verified that Raúl Díaz Cachón had bought caustic soda in the days after the young woman's disappearance.
In the case of the rental vehicle that Romina's husband claimed to have used to dispose of Romina's body and with which it was verified that he traveled about 1,000 kilometers in four days, it had already been inspected by a dog specialized in the search and location of cadaverous remains, which "marked" the car, but on Friday it was inspected in depth in search of biological DNA remains that would certify whether the vehicle was actually used to transport the young woman's remains.
The search at sea was suspended in search of new evidence
It should be remembered that Romina's husband confessed to having disposed of her body, but denied having participated in her death, claiming that he had found her dead upon returning home on January 1, after having left the house hours earlier after having had an argument with his wife. In that statement, Raúl Díaz Cachón gave details of how he had supposedly disposed of his wife's body, claiming that he had thrown the remains at different points along the coast.
However, the searches carried out by the Civil Guard at sea in the area of Los Hervideros and Los Ancones did not yield results and, after three days, the Civil Guard decided to cautiously suspend the search last Thursday until new evidence was found, since the investigators had not proven that Romina's husband had actually disposed of the body by throwing it into the sea.
"This one almost killed me, I don't think I'll be able to tell the next one"
In addition to being charged with murder or homicide, as the judge of the Court of Instruction number 1 of Arrecife considers that there are indications that he took his wife's life, Raúl Díaz Cachón has been in provisional detention since January 16 also accused of a crime of habitual abuse. And it is that, at least there is a complaint that Romina filed in August against her husband for mistreatment.
In addition, the Civil Guard had also been able to verify that Romina had gone to the Emergency Room of the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital two days before her death with various injuries that could be the result of a possible aggression. Although, according to sources close to the investigation, the young woman ended up leaving the center because they were taking too long to attend to her, Romina sent messages to a relative coinciding with said visit to the hospital in which she claimed to be "beaten all over", according to La Provincia. "This one almost killed me, I don't think I'll be able to tell the next one," she said in that Whatsapp conversation.
