The Civil Guard investigates two robberies in rental vehicles parked in Yé

Thefts from vehicles located in parking lots frequented by tourists are once again under investigation by the Civil Guard. In this case, the Benemérita is on the trail of two cases that occurred in Yé, in the parking lot where the path to descend El Risco begins, last Thursday and Saturday. In one of the cases, the perpetrator or perpetrators managed to take a wallet containing 160 euros. The other, having been unable to take anything of value, is being investigated as a case of damage.

In both cases, as confirmed to La Voz by the Civil Guard, the modus operandi consisted of breaking the vehicle's window to steal visible objects from inside the car. In both cases, a complaint has been filed for the events. Regarding the first action, the conduct "has been classified as robbery with force, as the perpetrators stole a wallet with 160 euros," the Benemérita indicated. In the second, "the events have been classified as damage since the assailants did not achieve their objective," they point out.

Regarding the perpetrators, the Civil Guard is carrying out investigative work, without being able to confirm at the moment whether it is a single person or an organized gang. "There is an open investigation in this regard, where the corresponding monitoring is being carried out to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators of the events," they report. In any case, they insist that "these are sporadic events and are in no case being carried out continuously."

The Civil Guard, which highlights that it is a "very busy area for tourists who come to hike," points out that the fact that it is "hidden" and is a "very little monitored" area encourages this type of behavior. "It only consists of breaking the glass and stealing what is inside," they point out, while explaining that "tourists usually leave things visible and quickly move away from the vehicle."

Security advice to avoid vehicle theft

In this sense, the Benemérita has provided some advice to avoid being victims of this type of theft. Thus, it advises, above all, that "in these little-traveled and poorly monitored places" avoid "leaving objects inside the vehicle that can be seen from the outside as valuables, bank details, and personal documentation, among others."

They also recommend "making sure that doors and windows are always left well closed and activating the anti-theft systems that the vehicle often incorporates."
