The firefighters of the Emergency Consortium extinguished a fire in Guatiza early this Thursday morning. The fire occurred in a house somewhat away from the town, next to the gas station, in which there was no one. It had two different sources, so for the Civil Guard, which is investigating what happened, "it is clear that it was provoked."
Both the firefighters and the Local Police of Teguise went to the scene and both have indicated that they found the house in disarray when they arrived to put out the fire. "When we opened to put out the fire, the guys found everything thrown, as if they had broken in to steal," they point out from the Emergency Consortium. The Local Police of Teguise emphasize that "there were indications that a robbery could have occurred."
For its part, the Civil Guard, which has taken charge of the investigation, is not so sure about the possible robbery. Sources from the body have indicated that the house presented "obvious signs of abandonment in all its dependencies", so "it would not be strange" that everything was in disarray. What they are certain of is that the fire "was intentional", since it had two starting points, one on the upper floor of the building and another on the ground floor.
"In addition, access to the house is via an external staircase, so it could not spread inside naturally," they point out. The Benemérita has already started an investigation to find out who could have caused the fire, since for now, they say, "the motives are unknown."
