The Civil Guard has charged a 35-year-old woman with the initials R.R.M. as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of threats through social networks. The investigation carried out by the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise began at the end of January when the victim, another woman, went to the Quarter's offices to file a complaint.
According to the Civil Guard, she went "after having observed a series of comments on her Facebook wall in which they threatened to physically assault her, among other types of intimidation, which had been made from another profile on the same social network."
Once the existence of the threats was proven, an investigation began that has concluded with the indictment of a crime of threats against the alleged perpetrator, even though the described comments were later deleted.
Crime of threats
The Civil Guard recalls that posting threatening comments through social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc...) is a crime that can be punished with up to two years in prison. If you are the victim of a similar crime, it is recommended not to delete the content and file a complaint.
The proceedings have been made available to the corresponding Court of Arrecife.
