The Civil Guard clarifies two robberies in businesses in Costa Teguise committed by employees

The Civil Guard of the Main Port of Costa Teguise clarified between March 20 and 28 two theft crimes that occurred in tourist businesses in the town, both allegedly committed by employees of the same. In a first action, a person was arrested for a robbery in a bicycle sales establishment in Costa Teguise and, in another, an employee of a quad rental company was investigated

Regarding the first action, as a result of a complaint from a sporting goods business, agents from the Investigation Area of the Main Post of Costa Teguise arrested on March 20 a 42-year-old man, with the initials I.M., of foreign nationality and without a criminal record, as the alleged perpetrator of a theft crime that occurred between February 16 and 19, where he allegedly stole a bicycle valued at around 2,100 euros and two sports watches valued at around 600 euros.

After carrying out an ocular inspection of the scene, the Civil Guard suspected that the perpetrator of the events was an employee or former employee, so after the corresponding police investigations it was possible to find out that the alleged person responsible for the crime was a former employee of the establishment, who took advantage of being fired to steal the effects.

The Civil Guard also managed to recover the bicycle and the two watches, which were handed over to their legitimate owner, who later recognized the effects as his property. The detainee was released with charges pending being summoned by the corresponding Arrecife Investigating Court.

Theft of a light electric vehicle

In the other action, the Civil Guard investigated a person with the initials T.J.D., 47 years of age and of foreign nationality, for a crime of theft of a light electric vehicle, a light quadricycle used for sidewalks, which was stolen from La Morena street in Costa Teguise last November at night.

It was the same complainant of the robbery who on the 28th recognized his vehicle in Puerto del Carmen, despite the fact that the perpetrator of the theft had erased the identifying marks of the previous owner and had placed a new license plate with the name of his company. The legitimate owner notified the agents of the Main Post of Tías and provided the necessary data to prove that the vehicle was his, being able to recover it and the agents continuing the necessary investigations to find out the identity of the alleged perpetrator of the events.

In this way, the agents of the Investigation Area were able to relate T.J.D., an employee of the company in question who had appropriated the vehicle in question, to the robbery, to whom the rights were read on the same day 28 as investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a theft crime, remaining at the disposal of the corresponding Court on duty in Arrecife.
