The Civil Guard requests citizen collaboration for the identification of a corpse found floating on November 27, 2024. The body was discovered at approximately 3:00 p.m., floating in the sea off the Vegueta neighborhood in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard, with the support of a Maritime Rescue boat, carried out the rescue of the body. After the discovery, the Homicide and Persons Team of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police (UOPJ) assumed responsibility for the investigation, focusing on the identification of the deceased and determining the causes of his death. Initially, no signs of criminality have been observed.

Once the removal of the body was authorized by the Judicial Authority, it was transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine for the autopsy.

Due to the state of saponification and decomposition of the body, the results of the autopsy have been limited. It has been determined that it is a male between 30 and 40 years old.

The deceased was wearing only black jeans and was wearing a pendant with the figure of an elephant. In the absence of documentation, the Civil Guard requests the collaboration of citizens to obtain information that may lead to the identification of the corpse.

The initial proceedings carried out by the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police have been sent to the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 6 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The investigation remains open, and the possibility of carrying out further proceedings is contemplated if the body is identified.

Anyone who can provide relevant information is urged to contact the competent authorities to assist in the resolution of this case.
