The Civil Guard arrests two people for robbing a hotel in the south of Lanzarote

The investigation began in September 2024 after the theft of 18,750 euros during the early hours of the morning, at the reception of a hotel establishment in Playa Blanca

Within the framework of Operation AFRE, the Patrimonial and Economic Crime Area of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) of the Las Palmas Command, together with the Civil Guard of Yaiza, arrested two people aged 38 and 40, for the crime of robbery with violence for committing a robbery in a hotel, and a third person, aged 27, was identified for the crime of receiving stolen goods, as she was considered the partner of one of the robbers and benefited from the stolen money.

The investigation began when the commission of a robbery with violence was reported by two hooded individuals armed with a large knife in the reception of a hotel in the town of Playa Blanca, stealing a total amount of 18,750 euros in banknotes of different denominations after threatening the hotel receptionist.

After analyzing the information obtained by the investigators, the first of the perpetrators was identified, and it was determined that he had fled to the island of Fuerteventura accompanied by a woman, a circumstance that led to the initiation of an operation aimed at his full location and subsequent arrest.

Agents of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police (UOPJ) of Las Palmas, with the support of investigation units from Fuerteventura, carried out the entry and search of a hotel room after obtaining the corresponding judicial authorization in order to locate the stolen money, as well as effects obtained with it. During the operation, and after accessing the interior of the room, the perpetrator was arrested, as well as the search of the place, managing to recover the money and objects from the crime committed.

Once this first phase of the investigation was completed, the UOPJ Las Palmas continued with the practice of investigation procedures that involved obtaining evidence of the commission of the Crime of Receiving Stolen Goods by the sentimental partner of the first detainee, as well as the identification of the second perpetrator of the robbery, proceeding to the location and arrest of these in later dates on the island of Lanzarote, resulting finally in the arrest of these three people as a direct consequence of the robbery executed.
