The collaboration of a witness prevented the consummation of the crime and was decisive for the success of the investigation according to the Benemérita

Civil Guard Barracks of San Bartolomé

The Civil Guard of San Bartolomé arrested last January 30 a woman, initials S.P.S., 50 years old and Spanish nationality, as alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence in the degree of attempt committed two days earlier in Playa Honda.

Around 06:00 hours on January 28, the Civil Guard was alerted by a witness of an assault in the street on a man, by a woman who covered her face with a handkerchief while trying to snatch the briefcase he was carrying.

When the assailant realized the presence of the witness and the call he was making to the Civil Guard, she left the place running without consummating the crime. Once on the scene, the agents gathered the necessary information about what happened and began a search of the area, failing to locate the alleged perpetrator of the crime.

A former employee of the victim's business

According to what the victim and witness told the agents, after following the victim on foot for a few meters, the woman hit him hard, knocking him to the ground and, after punching him several times, causing minor injuries, struggled with him trying to snatch the briefcase where, according to the victim and complainant, he was carrying the money from his business's collection.

This last detail caught the attention of the agents who, after taking statements from those involved, conducting photographic identifications and analyzing the images from the security cameras in the area, began the appropriate steps to find S.P.S, former employee of the victim in his business and who knew his routines and the location of the money. In addition, she has numerous police records for similar acts.

Days after the event, specifically on January 30, the alleged perpetrator of the crime of robbery with violence in the degree of attempt was arrested, and has already been brought before the Arrecife duty court, where she was released on charges pending the oral trial.
