The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías arrested last Tuesday, August 26, a person of Spanish nationality with initials D.B.W., 27 years of age, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence that occurred on public roads on Avenida de las Playas in the town of Puerto del Carmen.
The events occurred during the early morning of August 20, when at around 5 a.m. the 112 emergency room informed the Civil Guard that two women had been assaulted on the aforementioned avenue. The victims, two foreign tourists, were attacked with the intention of stealing their bags. Both had only been on the island for a few hours.
The Civil Guard, the Local Police of Tías and an ambulance quickly arrived at the scene, which transferred the victims to the Molina Orosa Hospital, where they were assisted.
The stolen bag contained a smartphone-type mobile phone, documentation and cash, all valued at 500 euros.
The investigations carried out at the scene of the robbery by the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of the aforementioned Post, which is responsible for the investigation, determined the reconstruction of the events and made it possible to obtain sufficient evidence for the arrest of the alleged perpetrator.
The detainee, who has numerous police records for crimes against property, has been brought to judicial disposition of the corresponding duty court of the town of Arrecife.
