The Civil Guard arrested a man wanted by French Justice on July 22, who was staying at a hotel complex in Puerto del Carmen. The arrest was carried out by the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police in Tías, after consulting the database of the corresponding Traveler Registry Books.
The agents verified that there was a judicial requirement from France on this person, due to alleged crimes against property, in this case for smuggling crimes, mostly tobacco. Next, they went to the hotel complex where D.P.S. was staying, where they proceeded to identify and arrest him, remaining at the judicial disposal of the corresponding Court of the National Court in Madrid.
In the statement in which it reports this arrest, the Civil Guard recalls that the Schengen Information System is a common platform that allows the competent authorities of the member states of the European Union to have information regarding security preferably, on the occasion of controls at borders, customs and police controls.
"The SIS-SIRENE is a database or data file in which there are descriptions - called signals - of people wanted for arrest for extradition purposes," adds the Civil Guard, which recalls that the SIRENE Offices (Supplementary Information Request at the National Entries) "were created with the purpose of making available to all parties a single and permanent access contact that would make the operation of the SIS possible; also having a jointly defined communication system called SISNET".
