The Local Police of Tías arrested four people in the early hours of Sunday during the celebrations of the Carnival of Puerto del Carmen. The events occurred at the fair after the parade that crossed the main urban area of the tourist town of Lanzarote was held.
During the parade, Maimoum E. A., 20 years old, and Lahbib B., 29 years old, both from Morocco, were arrested for an alleged crime of resistance by seriously disturbing the peace during the popular fair, according to the Local Police.
Two other people were also arrested separately, accused of a crime against road safety. All the defendants, once the relevant proceedings were completed, were placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
Sexual assault
On the other hand, officers of the Local Police of Tías proceeded on Sunday morning to arrest two people for alleged sexual assault on a tourist on a beach in Puerto del Carmen. The security force was notified by telephone of the events by several bathers.
Thus, Barik A. and Alek M.M., both 37 years old and from Morocco, were arrested. According to the statements of the victim, a 35-year-old from Ireland, she was assaulted "by the touching of her intimate parts by the detainees, while she was sunbathing on the beach, while they were masturbating, facts that were reproved by the rest of the beach users", specifies the note sent by the police.
