The Cabildo of Lanzarote has expressed its pain and sorrow for the tragic death of the baby born aboard a lost boat that was located and rescued by emergency services on Wednesday.
"This death has shaken us. And we feel pain and frustration for a drama that shakes us and makes us land in a reality that some do not want to see," transmitted the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, on behalf of the institution.
On board the boat, according to the Councilor for Social Welfare of the Cabildo, there were another 41 people, 24 adults (11 women, two of them pregnant, and 13 men), as well as 17 minors,
The institution emphasizes that they were able to be rescued alive thanks to the rapid action of Maritime Rescue, Civil Guard, National Police, Local Police of Arrecife, as well as paramedics from the SUC and volunteers from the Red Cross, to whom it thanks and congratulates for their work.
