Ten arrested in Lanzarote in a National Police anti-drug operation

The members of the organization used domestic flights to Arrecife to introduce cocaine and heroin into the islands

The National Police dismantles a criminal organization that introduced drugs into the Canary Islands

Agents of the National Police have arrested in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Algeciras a total of 12 men of Senegalese (2) and Guinean (10) nationalities and a Spanish woman, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organization.

It all starts when the National Police intercepted and arrested in a routine control carried out in the arrivals terminal of the César Manrique airport in Lanzarote an individual, who was carrying a suitcase in which 1,300 grams of heroin were found.

An investigation was then initiated that allowed the identification of a criminal network that extended its networks from the island of Lanzarote to the neighboring island of Fuerteventura, reaching the town of Algeciras. The criminal group, made up of at least 13 people, used domestic flights to introduce cocaine and heroin into the Canary Islands.

In the course of the police operation, 13 house searches were carried out in Arrecife (Lanzarote), two more in Corralejo (Fuerteventura) and finally one in Algeciras, where 6 kilos of cocaine and 1.75 kilos of heroin were seized, in addition to 93,000 euros in cash.

The police investigation culminated in the arrest of 12 men (originally from Senegal and Guinea Bissau) and a Spanish woman (10 in Lanzarote, 2 in Algeciras and 1 in Fuerteventura), as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organization.

This entire investigation was coordinated by the Court of Instruction number two of Arrecife in collaboration with the Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office of Lanzarote.
