The Civil Guard of Lanzarote has carried out a preventive security device responding to a worrying increase in the consumption of illicit substances in different nightlife venues in Puerto del Carmen. The operation, carried out on January 18, 2025, culminated in the arrest of a 25-year-old person as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, as well as numerous administrative sanctions for possession and consumption of drugs.
The Main Post of Tías coordinated an inspection device in collaboration with the Local Police of Tías, focusing on the main nightlife establishments.
During the same, the agents carried out preventive citizen security controls, while the local police were in charge of verifying compliance with administrative regulations, making several complaints to Law 4/2011 on classified activities and public shows of the Government of the Canary Islands.
As a result of the operation, a person was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, seizing after it "marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy pills" in quantities prepared for distribution. At the same time, a total of 30 administrative complaints were filed to Organic Law 4/2015, on the protection of citizen security for possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances to several of the clients of the inspected establishments.
This action demonstrates the commitment of the security forces in the fight against drug trafficking and consumption in leisure areas. The collaboration between the Civil Guard of Lanzarote and the Local Police of Tías has been fundamental for the success of the operation, which seeks to guarantee the safety and well-being of residents and visitors in Puerto del Carmen.
The detainees together with the instructed proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority of the Guard Court of Arrecife in Lanzarote.
