Lanzarote recorded this Sunday a new incident on its trails. A 67-year-old woman had to be assisted by the emergency services after suffering an accident while walking through the area of Caldera Blanca, in the municipality of Tinajo.
The alert entered CECOES around 15:23 hours, warning that a person had fractured a leg in the aforementioned natural spot. According to the Security and Emergencies Consortium, the hiker was accompanied at the time of the incident and her companions provided the exact coordinates, which sped up the deployment.
Evacuation operation
Upon the arrival of firefighters at the scene, the woman was already on the dirt track at the foot of the mountain, as her companions had helped her descend from the high area. After a first assessment, the personnel verified that the injured person presented a possible fracture in the right ankle, although her vital signs were normal and she was in good general condition.
In the operation participated the firefighters of the Consortium, the rescue helicopter and an ambulance of the Canarian Emergency Service.
Despite the presence of the helicopter, after consulting with the CECOES duty doctor, it was decided to carry out the transfer in an all-terrain vehicle to the road, given that the woman's condition was stable.
Once on the asphalt, the patient was transferred to the ambulance stretcher for her subsequent transfer to the health center. After informing the central office, the emergency services declared the service concluded.
