Four out of ten complaints are not filed by the victim
Of the 213 complaints of gender violence registered in the first semester of this year, only 128 include a complaint from the victim. In the remaining 40%, it is family members and people close to them or the police themselves through police reports who manage to open proceedings.
Specifically, 74 were initiated through a police report alone, while 8 began with an injury report. Added to these are two complaints that were filed by family members, one of them also accompanied by a police report, and one more filed by a third person.
The remaining 60% of the complaints in Lanzarote were filed by the victim, although the vast majority also have a police report. That was the case of 119, while only 9 were presented only with the complaint of the affected party.
Regarding the origin of the women victims of gender violence during that semester, a total of 130 were of Spanish nationality and the remaining 83 were foreign.
