The GEDEX of Lanzarote deactivates two mortar projectiles inside a dwelling

After an initial check using photographs of these objects, the Special Explosives Disposal Group confirmed that they were two potentially dangerous projectiles, so the security protocol was activated

The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura located on April 15, two mortar shells inside a home in the Atalaya Dorada urbanization, in Corralejo, during the execution of a judicial action.

The objects, which presented characteristics compatible with material of military origin, were initially identified by agents who alerted the explosive ordnance disposal specialists from Lanzarote (GEDEX) who, after a first check by photographing these objects, confirmed that they were two potentially dangerous projectiles, so the security protocol was activated.

Until the arrival of the specialists, the area remained secured to avoid risks, and once on site, it was verified that the projectiles, 50 millimeters in caliber, contained explosive charge, so they were removed for subsequent destruction under safe conditions.

The Civil Guard reminds that upon finding a possible artifact, it must not be handled, one must move away from the location and immediately notify the Civil Guard or Emergency Services, likewise, it is made known that all military-use material is exclusively for the use and possession of the Armed Forces, with any other use being prohibited.
