National Police agents in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria arrested an educator from a juvenile center in the capital last Wednesday, September 3, as the alleged perpetrator of several crimes of sexual assault against minors.

The investigation was carried out by the UFAM group of the Superior Police Headquarters, after receiving a complaint from a center worker who provided conversations between the suspect and two minors in which he requested intimate photos from them.

During the course of the investigation, it was possible to confirm and identify at least three victims, all of them underage girls who resided in the shelter, where the detainee worked as an educator.

Increasingly serious acts of a sexual nature

The modus operandi consisted of creating an atmosphere of friendship to gain the trust of the minors, and then taking advantage of moments when he was alone with the victims to carry out acts of a sexual nature, gradually increasing the severity of these.

Once the police proceedings were completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered his release with charges and a restraining order on the minors.

The Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM) does not rule out the possibility of more victims, so it encourages anyone who has suffered similar situations to contact them through the telephone number 928304752.
