The National Police have arrested a 44-year-old man in Arrecife, against whom an international arrest warrant was in force for the crimes of drug trafficking and crimes against property.
The police investigation began when it became known that an Austrian citizen under a false identity could be in the capital of Lanzarote. There was an international arrest warrant in force issued by Austria against him.
The police investigators managed to locate this person after verifying his true identity, which coincided with the person with the international order issued, so the national police proceeded to his immediate arrest.
In his presentation to the judicial authority and in coordination with the National Court, his imprisonment was decreed pending extradition.
The crimes, for which the international arrest warrant was issued, include drug trafficking and property crimes with penalties of up to 15 years in prison.
