The Civil Guard, under the dependence of the Customs and Special Taxes Administration and in collaboration with the Port Police, has arrested a diver who was trying to extract 101 kilograms of cocaine from a ship anchored in the Canary Islands.
The Civil Guard of the Port of La Luz has arrested a 34-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health in its drug trafficking form. This action is part of the inspection work entrusted to the Fiscal and Border Section of the Port of La Luz, in Gran Canaria.
The events took place on July 23, 2025, when agents of the Port Police and the Civil Guard surprised a diver who was in the vicinity of a ship from Brazil, unable to justify what he was doing in the place. Shortly after, some bundles were seen floating in the water and it was verified that they had been extracted from the aforementioned ship.
The packages were watertight bags, inside which cocaine was found. Given this evidence, the agents proceeded to seize the drug and arrest the man, accused of committing a crime against public health for drug trafficking.
The proceedings instructed, together with the detainee, were transferred and made available to the judicial authority of the Investigating Court on duty in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, whose owner has ordered provisional imprisonment for the arrested person.
