Civil Protection personnel from Yaiza and operators from the Grúas Tiagua company, with the support of the Local Police, removed this Thursday the sailboat that ran aground on Wednesday on the coast of Playa Blanca, in the Flamingo area.
The work began at 9:00 a.m. and concluded around 5:00 p.m. Before rescuing the sailboat, it was necessary to dismantle the mast and remove other objects from the boat, according to the Yaiza City Council.
This manned sailboat suffered an accident due to the strong wind that hit Lanzarote on Wednesday. The ship had two occupants on board who managed to abandon it and get to safety.
Apparently, the sailboat suffered an engine failure. Yaiza Civil Protection had to wait for conditions at sea to improve in order to tow the boat.
