A vehicle caught fire early Sunday morning at the intersection of Calle La Palma and Roque Nublo, in Puerto del Carmen, causing a fire that spread inside a workshop and left two cars affected and significant material damage
The incident occurred around 04:00 AM, when 112 activated the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium due to a vehicle fire in the middle of a public road. Upon arrival, firefighters found a car engulfed in flames in front of a mechanical workshop.
The officers began extinguishing efforts with water and foam lines, but during the intervention, they confirmed that the fuel spill had entered the workshop, causing a second fire outbreak inside the garage. To access the affected area, firefighters forced open the premises' windows and removed the burnt-out vehicle that was blocking the main door.
Firefighters from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium and Volunteer Firefighters worked jointly on the interior extinguishment, in addition to applying positive pressure ventilation to eliminate accumulated smoke and gases.
Once the fire was controlled and the risk of reignition ruled out, it was confirmed that a vehicle was completely incinerated outside and another suffered considerable damage inside the workshop, in addition to affecting various stored materials.
Volunteers Firefighters from Lanzarote, Civil Protection of Tías, Local Police of Tías, and the Civil Guard also participated in the operation, collaborating in traffic regulation and securing the area
