National Police agents have arrested a 43-year-old man in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as the alleged perpetrator of a fraud offense. He received payment from a company in the capital of Gran Canaria corresponding to the sale of 190,000 masks, which he never delivered.
Last May, the National Police received the complaint from the managers of the injured company, who had then made the payment for the 190,000 masks without them being delivered, although the merchandise had arrived on the island.
The police investigation allowed the location of 90,000 KN95 type masks and another 100,000 surgical type masks sent from China to the port of La Luz y de Las Palmas. The aforementioned merchandise had been hidden by the investigated in a warehouse in the town of Telde, where they were located and seized by police officers.
The police intervention culminated with the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the events, a 43-year-old businessman from the island, for a crime of fraud. Once the corresponding police report was prepared, it was sent to the competent Judicial Authority.
The police intervention was carried out by agents of the Provincial Brigade of Judicial Police and members of the Deputy Directorate of Customs Surveillance (DAVA) of the Tax Agency.
