The body of a 21-year-old woman who was found with her throat slit this Tuesday in the apartment she shared with two other students on Calvo Sotelo Street, in the Cruz de Piedra area, in La Laguna, was confirmed by sources from the National Police.
The body, which had a cut on the neck made with a knife, was found this morning by the young woman's mother who, after calling her insistently by phone and not being able to contact her, used some keys to the apartment to access the interior of the house, which had the door closed, the same sources said.
The 112 received the alert about 11.30 am from the Local Police of La Laguna and the National Police and the health personnel of the two ambulances, one medicalized and the other with basic life support, moved to the scene, confirmed the death of the young woman, who showed obvious signs of violence, reported sources from the Emergency Coordinating Center (CECOES 112).
After the pertinent police proceedings for the removal of the body, the body of the young woman has already been taken to the Forensic Anatomical Institute, where it will be determined if the body presents blows or other signs of violence and the causes of death, indicated the National Police.
The young woman was studying quantity surveying and shared an apartment with two other students from Gran Canaria, who were on vacation on their home island, although one of them had returned this morning, according to the victim's sister at the scene in statements to Cadena Ser. She also indicated that her sister had recently ended a romantic relationship with a young man.
The National Police will initiate the appropriate investigations to determine the authorship and causes of the event, of which, in principle, there is no possible motive, since there is no type of complaint or alert on the part of the young woman, the same sources said. Therefore, the initial investigation will focus on analyzing the scene of the incident and asking the residents of the area, friends and family to find out what the young woman did in the last 24 hours.
