Boat with 38 Maghrebi people rescued after being spotted by a fisherman eight miles from Lanzarote

Among the occupants are four women

Maritime Rescue rescued a boat with 35 migrants of Maghreb origin early this Sunday when they were sailing about eight nautical miles from Lanzarote, as sources from the state agency told Europa Press.

It was the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112, which alerted the Las Palmas Rescue Center at 07:00 hours that a fisherman had seen the irregular boat heading towards the town of Órzola.

In this way, the Salvamar Al Nair was activated while the Civil Guard sent a patrol by land.

Already at 08:30 hours, the local maritime resource located the boat and rescued its occupants, among whom were 34 men and four women, all in apparent good condition, to go to the Commercial dock of Arrecife, where the Red Cross assisted them.

One of the men was transferred to Molina Orosa due to dehydration and weakness.
