Arrested in Tías for simulating the theft of his mobile phone

The Civil Guard of Tías arrested last Monday a 24-year-old person for simulating a crime. The arrested, a tourist who was visiting the island, had filed a complaint claiming that he had suffered the theft of a Smartphone and his wallet, which would contain 430 euros in cash and his documentation.

The investigation began on January 7, after the complaint was filed with the police by this person, initials S.J.K. The detainee claimed that he had been the victim of a robbery on public roads, but subsequent investigations carried out by the Civil Guard were able to determine that the complainant would not have suffered such robbery, but that "he had allegedly lost all the related objects", they say from the Benemérita.

Based on these indications, the agents proceeded to arrest S.J.K. for a crime of simulating a crime and he was placed at the disposal of the corresponding Court, on guard duty, of the town of Arrecife.

The simulation of a crime can carry penalties ranging from 6 months to 2 years in prison, or fines ranging from 3 to 24 months, depending on the level of severity of the false crime.
