Agents on duty from the Tax Section of the Fuerteventura Airport, under the functional dependence of the Customs and II.EE Administrator of the Tax Agency, arrested a man on July 31 for a theft crime, for stealing high-end perfumes in the duty-free shops of the Fuerteventura airport.

The investigation began after the complaint of several businesses in the restricted area, who warned about the repeated disappearance of high-value products. The author repeatedly accessed the commercial area of the airport using a valid boarding pass and took advantage of his stay to commit the thefts before traveling to another island.

Later, he went to the duty free shops, from where he stole perfumes from recognized brands without being detected. Then he boarded inter-island flights, evading security controls by security personnel. The arrest took place on July 31, when the individual was trying to leave the Fuerteventura Airport carrying five high-end perfumes, valued at a total of 750 euros.

These pieces were part of a series of thefts that, according to initial estimates, would exceed 2,600 euros in accumulated value. Given the events that occurred, the Fiscal and Border Section of the airport proceeded to initiate police proceedings for an alleged continued crime of theft. The detainee was immediately placed at the disposal of the Guard Court of Puerto del Rosario.

In parallel, the authorities are keeping the investigations open in order to fully clarify the facts, without ruling out new arrests
