Arrested after selling in Lanzarote a mobile phone stolen from a hotel complex in Fuerteventura

Two people have been arrested, accused of stealing 8,500 euros in cash and a smartphone from the safe of a Spa. Did the second detainee work for the company that suffered the robbery?

Two people have been arrested in an operation involving the Civil Guard of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, to clarify a crime of robbery with force in a hotel complex in Costa Calma. The events occurred at the beginning of last May, when the theft of a safe with 8,500 euros in cash and a smartphone was reported.

A few weeks later, the telephone allowed the alleged perpetrators of the robbery to be identified, after one of them sold the mobile phone in a buy-sell shop in Lanzarote. Thus, thanks to the coordination of the Civil Guard of both islands, E.J.G.F. was arrested after selling the telephone.

The police investigations also led to the arrest of D.A.F.T., who is a relative of the first arrested and also worked in the spa of Fuerteventura where the robbery took place. According to the Civil Guard, the second detainee was a "collaborator" in the robbery, providing information on "the changes in work shifts" and "the form of collection". In fact, the safe was stolen on the last day of the monthly collection, which allowed the "booty" to amount to 8,500 euros.

The two detainees are of Spanish nationality and after their arrest on June 9, both have been placed at the disposal of the corresponding duty court of the town of Puerto del Rosario.
