A 38-year-old male, identified as J.M.S.M., with no known address on the Island and a native of Moya (Gran Canaria), has been arrested and brought to justice by the National Police accused of a crime of robbery with violence and intimidation.
According to a police statement, a commercial establishment on José Pereyra Galviaty Street in Arrecife was the scene of the attempted robbery.
The aforementioned entered the store with a large knife and assaulted the store employee, demanding the collection.
When the woman confronted him, the note adds, the individual took the 6-year-old daughter of a customer hostage, who was in the establishment at the time, and threatened to stab her if she did not hand over the cash from the register. "Give me the money or I'll stab the girl," said the assailant according to the complainant.
Faced with this situation, the clerk threw a large advertising sign at the assailant, who lost his balance and fled. Upon hearing the woman's cries for help, who ran out of the store, passersby who were in the area managed to restrain the individual, after a chase, until the arrival of the police unit.
Alerted by the 091 control room, a patrol from the Local Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police went to the scene and arrested the alleged perpetrator of the threats. Once at the police station, it was verified that the arrested person had a previous arrest also for theft with threats.
