Three young people were involved in an argument that ended with the early termination of the fair that was taking place in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen. The Councilor for Festivities, Rafael González, who has described the incident as minor, made the decision to suspend the fair at around 4 in the morning to prevent further incidents of this type from occurring.
Although the reason for the argument is unknown, those involved did not have to be hospitalized. Two young people were of South American origin and the third was a native of the municipality of Tías. Rafael González commented that these types of incidents occur among young people at night, "since they have a very different civic behavior than we had".
González also commented that to avoid future fights at the festivals, they will try to have more police presence on foot at the fair, "since, although there are many police officers in Puerto del Carmen, they were in the avenue area due to the number of tourists in the town at the moment".
