At 8:27 a.m. this Sunday morning, the Canary Islands Emergency Service received a call alerting them that a young man was lying in the middle of the public road, in Arrecife, specifically on Canalejas Street, at number 8. Two ambulances went to the scene and tried to revive the young man, but could not do anything for his life. Apparently, and according to the SUC, he had died as a result of a cardiorespiratory arrest.
For his part, the National Police Commissioner, José Antonio García Camacho, states that his death was the result of a fall from a balcony. Initially, some witnesses referred to a possible hit-and-run, but after analyzing the blow suffered by the deceased, it was found that no vehicle had run him over, but that he had fallen from a considerable height. According to the commissioner, a car may have passed near the deceased when he was already lying on the ground, which may have led witnesses to believe that the driver had run him over and then fled the scene.
