Woman dies by drowning in Playa Blanca

A woman in her 50s has died this Tuesday in Playa Blanca, after suffering a drowning in the sea, in the area of the Pechiguera Lighthouse. It was Emerlan who received the notice that there was a person in distress in the water and upon arriving at the scene, one of the institution's rescuers who was near the area located a body floating face down, near the shore.

With the help of the Civil Guard, they pulled the woman out of the water and began basic resuscitation maneuvers, which were unsuccessful. An ambulance with basic life support from the Canary Emergency Service later arrived at the scene, after the Civil Guard notified 112 of the incident. Agents from the Yaiza Local Police also attended, who collaborated with the transfer of the doctor and nurse from the health center, according to the Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies.

These health professionals, together with the SUC personnel, performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers "for more than an hour", but were unable to recover the woman. Finally, only the death could be certified and the Civil Guard and the judicial authority took charge of the corresponding procedures.
