The main hypothesis that the Civil Guard is considering about this finding indicates that the deceased is probably related to a wooden boat type patera that was located in the same area on the morning of last Tuesday. In addition, that day the Civil Guard found in the sea and near the boat a plastic bag containing a document in the name of a 36-year-old Moroccan citizen.
The Civil Guard is trying to find out if that document belongs to this person found this Saturday or if it belongs to another of the occupants of that boat. The agents have also taken several genetic samples from the corpse for analysis, in order to verify their identity.
PATERA
Around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, a local police officer from Haría found a lifeless body in the coastal area of Caleta del Mero. Alerted the Civil Guard, agents of the Judicial Police of this Corps went to the place, verifying that the corpse was on the shore of a beach and a few meters from the water, in a prone decubitus position (lying face down), being a man of Maghreb appearance, strong build and with an approximate age between 30 and 35 years.
The body was in a state of decomposition, between 5 and 7 days deceased, naked in its upper part and with pants, presenting blows in different parts as a result of the action of the sea after dragging it against the rocks.
Around 13:00 hours, its removal and transfer to the Forensic Anatomical Institute of the judicial headquarters in Arrecife was carried out, where it will be subjected to the corresponding autopsy to determine the exact causes of death.
For its part, the patera found last Tuesday had characteristics of 5 meters in length with a meter and a half of beam, without any type of inscription, green in color and with a white stripe, equipped with an engine of just 15 hp of power. In it were found three gasoline drums with about 50 liters each, food remains, two blankets and clothing of about three people.
