The Civil Guard of the Traffic Detachment of Arrecife investigated on February 7 a 32-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, after being located driving a vehicle without a driving license, as he had never obtained it.
The events took place when the agents of the Traffic Group were carrying out an alcohol and drug control on the LZ-2, the road from Arrecife to Playa Blanca, at kilometer point 2.500 of the municipal district of San Bartolomé.
In this place, they proceeded to stop a car for the subsequent identification of the driver, verifying that he lacked a driver's license.
For this reason, the agents informed the driver that he will be investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, instructing the corresponding proceedings, which were delivered to the Arrecife duty court.
The Civil Guard reminds that driving a motor vehicle without ever having obtained a driving license is a particularly serious infraction that implies, beyond an administrative infraction, the commission of a criminal offense typified in article 384 of the Penal Code.
Specifically, chapter IV of the current Penal Code typifies crimes against road safety and establishes that anyone who drives a motorcycle or moped without ever having obtained a driving license or permit, will be punished with a prison sentence of three to six months or with a fine of twelve to twenty-four months or with work for the benefit of the community from 31 to 90 days.
The same penalty is established for those who drive a vehicle in cases of loss of validity of the permit or license due to total loss of legally assigned points and for those who do so after having been deprived, either preventively or definitively, of the permit or license by judicial decision.
