A man has died this Monday drowned on Famara beach, in the municipality of Teguise. The incident occurred at 2:25 p.m., when several people noticed that a swimmer was having difficulty getting out of the water. The people who were on the beach at that time managed to rescue this man who, however, ended up dying shortly after on the sand. The deceased is a German, 71 years old, whose initials are J.J, and who resided in Las Caletas, in Costa Teguise.
The Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112 received the alert from several people who were in Famara at the time of the events. After that, Cecoes immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
Upon arrival at the scene, the medical personnel of the SUC performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the affected person, which were unsuccessful, so the paramedics could only confirm his death.
An advanced life support ambulance, as well as the Civil Guard, the Local Police and Maritime Rescue, were dispatched to the scene.
