A local police officer from Tías suffered a fracture in one of his hands this Wednesday while trying to arrest the perpetrator of a robbery by snatching from an Irish tourist. The events occurred in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen.
According to data from the Local Police of Tías, in the early hours of Wednesday, two officers of the corps proceeded to arrest Eddier P.Z., 20 years old and of Colombian nationality, after committing an alleged crime of robbery with violence by snatching from an Irish tourist in Puerto del Carmen.
The agents, according to the police report, began their intervention upon hearing the tourist's cries for help, observing a young man fleeing with the woman's bag. The police officers managed to stop the alleged thief, although after he resisted.
"At the time of the arrest," the police report details, "the defendant put up strong resistance, resulting in one of the police officers being injured by a fracture in one of his hands and various abrasions, for which he needed to be assisted by an ambulance, being transferred to the General Hospital of Lanzarote." The other officer was also slightly injured in one of his legs.
The tourist filed the complaint at the headquarters of the Local Police of Tías for the theft of effects she was carrying in her bag, valued at 135 euros plus 90 euros in cash. With all this, the agents instructed the proceedings of the report, while the detainee was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
