A 30-year-old kitesurfer died this Sunday after suffering a fall in a rocky area of Famara beach.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., when 112 received a call reporting that the kitesurfer had fallen while picking up the sail, due to a gust of wind. According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, he was dragged more than 200 meters.
In addition to the firefighters, two ambulances and the Local Police were dispatched to the scene. A doctor initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers until the SUC paramedics arrived, who assisted the kitesurfer, who at the initial moment of assistance presented a severe head injury.
The affected person was transferred on a stretcher to the ambulance to be evacuated in critical condition to the Molina Orosa Hospital. However, as confirmed by the Emergency Consortium, he finally died. The Local Police collaborated with the emergency resources and prepared the appropriate reports.
