A fire that broke out in the kitchen of the Volcán de Playa Blanca hotel has forced the evacuation of part of the establishment and the transfer of two people to a health center for smoke inhalation.

The incident took place at around 7:00 a.m. this Friday, when firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium were alerted. Upon arriving at the scene, they found that the fire had already been controlled by hotel staff.

According to the Consortium, the fire had started in a fryer and they had to "lower the temperature with oil, as it was still burning."

Due to the smoke, the clients who were in the area closest to the fire were evacuated. As for the two people who required medical assistance, they were initially attended to by Civil Protection personnel, before being transferred to the health center.

Local Police and Civil Guard officers also attended the scene to secure the area. After completely extinguishing the flames, the firefighters checked all the nearby rooms and finished ventilating the area.
