The patrols of the Costa Teguise Company assisted during the morning of November 12 to a 63-year-old cyclist who suffered a fall while practicing sports on dirt roads between the area of Muñique and Teguise.
The cyclist was all night outdoors after suffering a fall and getting injured, until he was finally rescued in the vicinity of a little frequented road and about 20 meters from the passable area, in a crack in the ground.
The Civil Guard became aware of the situation on November 12 at 01:00 hours, stating the complainant that her husband had left home around 4:00 p.m. with an electric mountain bike, not having returned until the moment of reporting the events to the Main Post of Tías, at which time she showed her extreme concern since he always returned home before dark after trying to contact her husband several times by telephone without result.
Immediately, and from the moment of becoming aware of the facts, the Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías coordinated a search device in which the units of the Island collaborated, as well as troops from the local police of Tías and Teguise and Civil Protection, in the rural area where the mobile device of the missing person gave the last signal, with a negative result due to the poor visibility during the night.
Despite the difficulties, the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise, located the cyclist at 09:10 hours on November 12 thanks to their knowledge of the area, managing to find out the place where the cyclist had the accident. The cyclist after spending the whole night outdoors, was in a state of semi-consciousness, with great body stiffness and hypothermia. He only presents superficial wounds on one of his legs, not appreciating having suffered a serious blow. Due to being diabetic and being able to suffer severe hypoglycemia, it is decided that he be urgently transferred to the Dr. Jose Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife.
